What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Email addresses in comments are used only to communicate with you about your comment.
Contact forms
When you use a contact form, we collect your email address and the IP address. Contact form submission data includes IP address, user agent, name, email address, website, and message. This data is checked for spam by the Antispam Bee plugin. The data is retained on our site until it is deleted. Email addresses in contact forms are used to respond to you about your contact. IP addresses are used for the purpose of identifying spam. Email addressed submitted through contact forms are used to communicate with you about your contact. You can by-pass contact forms at any time by emailing us at chris@lifespringwriting.com.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. You do this through your browser settings. If you disable cookies in your browser, some site features may not be available.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interactions in order to offer better site experiences and tools in the future. Tracking data uses anonymized IP addresses. Visit IP Anonymization in Google Analytics for information about this process.
To prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics, you may install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
